At your first visit you will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire before being taken through to the surgery.  The examination appointment is comprehensive and begins with a discussion about any dental concerns or issues that you may be having. This might include pain, fear of the dentist, cosmetic isuues or you may just be due for a check up and clean.

A thorough examination of all the tissues inside the mouth follows and this consists of an oral cancer screen, checking and recording the teeth, screening for gum disease and, if indicated, xrays.

At this point the dentist will discuss the overall picture and any areas of concern can be addressed.

Sometimes it is not possible for patients to decide which treatment option they would like immediately, so when they are given their treatment plan with quotation at the end of the appointment, a selection of options can be added.

Alternatively the dentist may choose to post out a more detailed plan with the options explained further.

After the examination a scale and polish is usually provided and this can be done with local anaesthetic or with a prophy jet to get the teeth extra clean.  The prophyjet is paticularly useful for smokers as it removes the maximum amount of staining.

When the appointment has finished patients are taken through to the reception desk where payment is received and a headed receipt is provided.
